Why Barcelona homes get this: Many pre-1990 Eixample and Gràcia buildings still carry undersized or outdated wiring that fails current REBT standards, and panels frequently lack the residual-current devices required since 2002. Lifts retrofitted into stairwells and patios add complex shared electrical infrastructure, and any installation work requires a GVA-equivalent Catalan completion certificate filed through the Generalitat.

By national ratios Barcelona supports about 4,800 full-time electrician pros — a large market with room for niche specialists, emergency-only operators and franchises alike. That is several times the size of a typical Spain city we cover. Ownership is split — 60 % owner-occupied — so a typical week mixes homeowners with landlords and property managers who buy in volume. The housing stock is old for the country, which pushes repair and replacement demand above the national average.
25 electrician pros are listed in Barcelona; 0 of them offer smart switch installation specifically. Every listed pro covers roughly 26,000 households — plenty of room before this market reads as crowded.
