However, the Ley de Aguas and local ordenanzas municipales regulate the vertido (discharge) of aguas residuales (wastewater) from pressure washing. In many municipios, discharging wash water containing productos químicos (chemicals) or contaminantes into the red de alcantarillado pluvial (storm sewer system) is prohibited without prior autorización de vertido. For fachadas of edificios protegidos (protected buildings) under the Ley de Patrimonio Histórico, pressure washing may require prior informe from the Consejería de Cultura.
