Refrigerator Water Dispenser Not Working — Amsterdam, Noord-Holland

When the water dispenser on a refrigerator stops working — producing no water, a weak trickle, or only warm water — the problem usually traces back to one of a few components in the water supply chain. A frozen water supply tube inside the door is the single most common cause: the small-diameter line running through the freezer-to-door hinge freezes solid when the freezer temperature is set too low or a door seal leak lets cold air concentrate around the tube. A clogged or expired inline water filter restricts flow and can reduce output to a drip. A failed water inlet valve (the solenoid-operated valve at the back of the fridge where the household water line connects) no longer opens on demand. Less commonly, a faulty dispenser switch or control board prevents the signal from reaching the valve. An appliance technician can identify which link in the chain has failed, thaw or replace the supply tube, swap the filter or valve, and restore full dispenser flow.
