House cleaning and deep cleaning are related but distinct services that serve different purposes in home maintenance. Regular house cleaning ($100–$200 per visit for a standard home) is a recurring service — weekly, biweekly, or monthly — that maintains a baseline of cleanliness. A typical visit includes dusting accessible surfaces, wiping down counters and appliances, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms (toilets, sinks, tubs, mirrors), vacuuming and mopping floors, emptying trash, making beds, and tidying visible clutter. It takes 1.5–3 hours for a two-person team in a 2,000 sq ft home. The goal is upkeep: preventing dirt from accumulating between visits. Deep cleaning ($200–$500+ per visit) is a thorough, top-to-bottom scrub that reaches areas regular cleaning skips. It includes everything in a regular clean plus: cleaning inside ovens and microwaves, scrubbing grout lines, washing baseboards and door frames, cleaning behind and under appliances (fridge, stove, washer), washing interior windows, scrubbing light fixtures and ceiling fans, detailing cabinet fronts and hardware, cleaning inside cabinets and drawers (optional), cleaning vents and returns, removing soap scum and hard-water deposits from shower doors and tile, and sanitizing trash cans. It takes 4–8 hours for a two-person team in the same home. Deep cleaning is typically booked as a one-time or seasonal service — when you move in or out, before or after hosting, when starting recurring cleaning service for the first time (most cleaning companies require a deep clean first to establish a baseline), during spring cleaning, or when the home hasn't been professionally cleaned in several months. Most cleaning companies price deep cleaning 2–3× higher than regular cleaning because of the additional time, specialized products (degreaser, grout cleaner, limescale remover), and physical intensity. After an initial deep clean, regular maintenance cleaning keeps the home at that elevated baseline, making each visit faster and more efficient.
